授業概要		なぜこれまで、月経について人々はオープンに語ることが難しかったのでしょうか。なぜ月経のある人びとは、それを隠さなければならないと感じてきたのでしょうか。現代医学は人間の寿命を延ばしてきましたが、その一方でどのような副作用や影響をもたらしてきたのでしょうか。PMS（月経前症候群）やPMDD（月経前不快気分障害）といった概念はどのように生まれ、それは医学や精神医学という学問分野・制度について何を示しているのでしょうか。生理用品はある程度の快適さをもたらす一方で、女性たちから何を奪っている可能性があるのでしょうか。フェミニズムの視点からの月経アクティビズムにはどのようなものがあるのでしょうか。 本講義では、月経を手がかりかつケーススタディとして、医療化、スティグマ、恥、身体、生理用品、そして近代医学の成立といったテーマを考察します。  Why has it been so hard for people to openly discuss menstruation? Why do menstruators feel the imperative to conceal it? Modern medicine has prolonged human lives, but what are some of its unintended side effects/consequences? How did the terms PMS (premenstrual syndrome) and PMDD (premenstrual dysphoric disorder) come into being, and what do they tell us about medicine and psychiatry as academic fields and institutions? Sanitary products to a certain extent provide comfort but what might they take away from women in return? What are feminist approaches to menstrual activism? This gender history course examines themes of medicalization, stigma, shame, the body, sanitary products, and the origins of modern medicine, with menstruation as an entry point and a case study.

全体の教育目標		本講義では、ジェンダー史の基礎と、月経に関わる諸テーマについての理解を深めることを目的とします。授業終了時には、以下の点を身につけていることを目指します。 1）ジェンダー理論およびジェンダー史の基本的な考え方を理解すること 2）スティグマや恥、月経する身体、医療化をめぐる主要な議論を把握すること 3）批判的に考える力を養うこと This course aims to equip students with basic understandings of gender history and themes related to menstruation. By the end of the course, students will be able to: 1) Understand the fundamentals of gender theories and gender history; 2) Grasp key arguments related to stigma, shame, menstruating bodies, and medicalization; and 3) Develop critical thinking skills.

授業の進め方		各回の授業は、まず担当教員による15〜20分程度の導入から始まり、その後は学生が中心となってディスカッションを行います。 Each class will start with a short presentation (15-20 min) by the instructor, followed by student-led class discussions.
