履修条件
Every post-graduate student (Master or Doctoral) can join and there are no special requirements with regard to your English ability. 
授業概要
社会科学分野を例に,国際雑誌・国際会議の英論文の一般的な論文構成を演習を通じて理解することを目的とする.序論の節(例えば,関連研究のレビューや仮説の定式化など),方法論の節(実験方法,刺激,装置,手法,データ解析などの小節を添えて),結果の節(図,統計データ等を含む),考察/結論の節などを実際に書いて英論文構成と執筆に慣れる.なお,授業は英語で行う. 
A class introduction will be given on April 13 (time slot IV) and lecture dates will be decided.

There will be a mid-term report task and a final report.

The student's active participation is expected during classes.

全体の教育目標
The purpose of the course is to make students familiar with the general structure of English scientific manuscripts published in international (conference) journals in the fields of the social sciences.
We will practice writing the introduction (including, for example, descriptions of past research and hypothesis formation), a method section (with subsections on participants, stimuli, equipment, procedure, data analyses, etc.), a results section (including figures, graphs, statistics), and a discussion/conclusion section.

Materials will be provided by the instructor before each class.

Students are expected to bring writing materials, such as paper sheets, pen(s) and pencil(s). You are allowed to use a notepad, laptop or any other electronic writing device. It is highly recommendable to bring a (electronic) dictionary.

試験/成績評価の方法等
The final grade will be based on
1) presence, participation, and effort during class;
2) performance on a midterm writing task;
3) the final report - a scientific manuscript about the student's own (recent) research.

Plagiarism of any kind is treated seriously - the student should participate by submitting his/her original writing. No Internet materials should be copied and pasted (or imported and translated) except in explicit quotations with reference.

If plagiarized materials are detected the student will be reported to his/her supervisor and will fail the class by default.
