Abstract:
This subject provides an overview of the fundamental knowledge that is necessary to understand the whole areas of the academic activities in the Department of Human Science: areas in Physiological Anthropology, Perceptual Psychology, and Applied Mathematics and Computer Science.

Advanced Human Science A(Tue 3rd hour, 532)
1. April 13 Hideyuki Takagi: "Research Ethics." We learn past cases of
violating research ethics and think what research ethical education at
universities is necessary.
2. April 20 MARUYAMA, Osamu: "Introduction to Bayesian inference."
3. April 27 HIRAMATSU, Chihiro: "Physiology of vision." We learn physiological mechanisms underlying visual perception.
4. May 11 REMIJN, G. B.: "Audiovisual integration." We will look at perception research and brain research in this area.
5. May 18 MURAKI, Satoshi: "Ergonomics for all ages and abilities in aging society."
6. May 25 UEDA, Kazuo: "Multilingual commonality in speech perception." Trying to find out commonality across different languages with multivariate acoustic analyses of speech and speech perception experiments using degraded speech.
7. June 1 UEDA, Kazuo: "Speech perception in adverse conditions." Overviewing literatures on speech perception in adverse conditions.
8. June 8 ITO, Hiroyuki: "Visual perception." We learn illusions of brightness, shape, depth, and motion.
9. June 15 SEKI, Motohide: "Applied mathematical sciences."
10. June 22 ITO, Hiroshi: Revisit to Linear algebra 1: "What is Eigen value?" Definition, calculation of Eigen value. Diagonalization.
11. June 29 OI, Naoyuki,"Perception studies and environmental psychology." Introducing the outline of environmental psychology and explaining its relation to sensory perception studies
12. July 6 ITO, Hiroshi: Linear algebra 2: "For what is Eigen value?" Solution of linear differential/difference equation. Characteristic value of network, compression of dimension.
13. July 13 IRAMINA, Keiji: "Brain Science (Functional brain imaging)." We
learn how to image or measure of human brain function non-invasively and
overview several imaging techniques such as fMRI, EEG, MEG and NIRS.
14. July 20 MAEDA, Takafumi: "Human and environment.

Basically, each lecturer requires students to submit papers. Participation is also important.
